Taner Tümkaya
writer/director/producer

Taner Tümkaya is a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist whose work interrogates the boundaries between reality and fiction. With a background in philosophy and formal training in Interdisciplinary Arts (MFA, Städelschule Frankfurt), he brings a conceptual rigor and an expansive visual spectrum to cinematic storytelling.

Early works as his first feature -which merged animation with live performance- earned recognition through the Dresdner Bank Fellowship and Hessische Kultur Stiftung Grant followed by a decade in Los Angeles directing fiction short films -which received attention at US Film festivals-, music videos and fashion films while developing short form narratives that blend performance with experimental techniques. Now based in Berlin, Taner continues to push formal boundaries. His recent curated art-fashion exhibition (Kunsthalle Lingen) explored parallel themes to his forthcoming feature-length staged documentary -an independently produced feature length film-  that challenges conventional notions of truth and representation.
